Starting today I’m going to periodically do a giveaway of one of my favorite things. Today’s giveaway is a set of magnetic measuring spoons made by Progressive International, Inc.
Last year my mom read about these measuring spoons in Real Simple magazine and decided to order them. I remember her excitedly telling me about them and then finally seeing them for myself. I immediately understood why my mom loved them so much–they were awesome! My mom was sweet enough to share the love and give me my own set. So what is so great about these measuring spoons?
The spoons are a five-piece measuring set with both standard and metric measurements. Magnets in the spoons keep them nested together when not being used. The spoons have a flat base that allow them to rest on the counter without tipping over. The spoons are double ended. One end has a narrow, oblong shaped end that will fit into most spice jars.
The other end is round and great for measuring liquids.
Not only is it nice to have those options, but it also comes in handy if one end gets dirty and then you need to measure out something else.
Not only are these spoons the best measuring spoons I’ve ever used, but they’re cute too! I have an extra set that Fuji Nana has donated for this giveaway and I want one of you to have them! To enter the giveaway I want you to leave me a comment telling me what your favorite kitchen tool or gadget is and why. For a second entry in the giveaway, just leave a second (separate) comment letting me know if you are a Follower or a Subscriber. I will keep the comments open until Sunday, April 5th, 10 pm PST, and announce the winner (using a random number generator) on Monday.
** The contest is now closed.**

Favorite kitchen gadget/tool: Does a fondue set count? I love fondue! I’ve never had a really good set though. Should get on that.

Awesome! I’ve been winging it with cutlery spoons for too long. My favorite kitchen gizmo is my rice cooker. Been making perfect rice for nearly 10 years now and still going strong :-)
Oh, and I’m a Follower :-)
My favorite kitchen gadget is the mandolin. In order to make my famous potato latkes I have to grate an entire onion. In years past, I dealt with this challenge by wearing swimming goggles. But with a mandolin, the onion is grated zip-zap-zoop, before I even have time to get teary eyed!

My silicon expandable measuring cups:) Love ‘em!!
My favorite kitchen gadget is my garlic press. :)
I love using my chopsticks! They serve as a whisk for eggs, stirrer for drinks, baked good checker to see if they’re done, and spatula for easy flipping in the pan.
I’m a Fuji subscriber on Google Reader. :)
These measuring spoons look awesome!
For some reason I just love my pastry scraper Maybe because I haven’t always had one. I also love my digital scale. And a marble rolling pin that I’ve had since I was a teenager. (Sorry, it was hard to pick one!)

Hi FM,
I am a follower. I’ve been following you for quite a while, ever since I came back from Japan in March 08 and spent hours every day looking for Japan stuff online, coz I missed it sooooo much.
How much do you miss Japan? You seem to have transitioned really well.
My favourite kitchen tool is BY FAR, my Microplane Grater/Zester. If you don't have one you really should rush out and get one. Have a look here: http://us.microplane.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=4
I was forced to use an old fashioned zester on the weekend and almost severed my thumb! That hurt!
kitchenaid mixer; it saves my arms!
Having moved around far far far too many times, in the past few years, including a couple of places with limited kitchen access, I’m only just getting settled in my own place with a (tiny Japanese) kitchen. I don’t have a lot of space for gadgets, but I have a blender I absolutely LOVE. I use it to make smoothies in the morning, and all sorts of soups too.
And I’m a subscriber, of course!
Awesome measuring spoons! My favorite kitchen tool is an apple slicer/corer, it makes snack time so much easier around my house!
Thanks! foxsquirrelrabbit at gmail dot com
Wow! I love the colours and that they won’t tip over and leave a mess as soon as you put them down. Fantastic idea!
My absolute favourite gadget is my panini/sandwich press. As you probably know, the old style square sandwich makers are all that’s usually available here in Japan, but last month I came across a regular western one on the web. Although so expensive as it was shipped from the U.S, Ryder and I LOVE it and use it most days in some way for lunch.
I’m a subscriber through Bloglines.
My favorite kitchen appliance is my KitchenAid tilt mixer! It does me so much good in the kitchen!
My favorite gadget is definitely my wand mixer. Can’t make tomato sauce without it.
And I’m totally an OG follower. Ever since I started reading blogs. ;)
My favourite kitchen gadget would be my breadmaker. Doesn’t make very good bread, but makes a great pizza base.
My favorite kitchen gadget is the TUFFY STEEPER, a collapsible silicone steeping baskets designed for easy storage, travel and tea on-the-go. It is also a versatile kitchen gadget, especially when cooking with tea. It is an easy way to strain tea leaves, herbs and spices without fuss or mess.
Just subscribed…excited to read more…
My favorite kitchen tool is my fancy super shart Wuhstof knife! It’s a dream to use.

Rockin prize! I can never find the measuring spoon I need (they tend to get separated ya know).
My favorite kitchen tool…..would be a certain knife I use. It has been with me my whole marriage. It’s just the right size.
I also love my Pampered Chef stones! They are fantastic!
I really love my Pampered Chef food chopper – I am terrible with knives and that little gadget gets the job done fast – love it! Thanks for the giveaway – cool idea.
Great giveaway! My favorite kitchen item would be my mixer, love making baked goods!
My favorite kitchen gadget is my crock pot!
I have been a follower for a while now…love your posts!
Very cool! Those look like a great gadget!
I also subscribe!
Hola Fuji Mama! I have been a follower for a while now and if I had to say what my favorite gadget is, it’s a snarfblat! JK! I love the Little Mermaid a little bit too much. Seriously though, this past Christmas my bosses gave me a $50 gift certificate to Williams and Sonoma. I waited for the post-holiday sales so I could order a 4″ Global Chef Knife. This mighty steel beaut was forged in the same fires as the samuari swords in ancient Japanese tradition. Now I to can slice and dice with the greatest of ease. :)
Favorite gadget? Only one? Ok, my favorite gadget is my garlic press — its nit just for garlic you know! (but my favorite utensil is still my whisk)
I am a ‘buzz friend’
Picking a favorite kitchen gadget is like picking your favorite kid … I would say at the moment my Nemco Adjustable Easy Slicer, it’s a “mandolin on steroids”.
If I can only pick one, it would have to be my knives. I use my immesion blender nearly every day too though, as well as a good set of tongs.
Hmm, I would say my most favorite gadgets are:
Keurig Coffee Maker – because it makes delicious coffee, one cup at a time. No more burnt coffee!
Deni 48 pin Meat Tenderizer – because it quickly tenderizes your most toughest cuts of me, without squashing it down like other meat tenderizers out there.
I’m a follower… :-)
I’m not sure if this counts a “gadget,” but my favorite kitchen tool is my Crock-Pot. It makes my life so easy! I also appreciate my food processor. :)
