FM Favorite Giveaway: Magnetic Measuring Spoons

in Uncategorized

Starting today I’m going to periodically do a giveaway of one of my favorite things. Today’s giveaway is a set of magnetic measuring spoons made by Progressive International, Inc.
Last year my mom read about these measuring spoons in Real Simple magazine and decided to order them. I remember her excitedly telling me about them and then finally seeing them for myself. I immediately understood why my mom loved them so much–they were awesome! My mom was sweet enough to share the love and give me my own set. So what is so great about these measuring spoons?

The spoons are a five-piece measuring set with both standard and metric measurements. Magnets in the spoons keep them nested together when not being used. The spoons have a flat base that allow them to rest on the counter without tipping over. The spoons are double ended. One end has a narrow, oblong shaped end that will fit into most spice jars.
The other end is round and great for measuring liquids.
Not only is it nice to have those options, but it also comes in handy if one end gets dirty and then you need to measure out something else.

Not only are these spoons the best measuring spoons I’ve ever used, but they’re cute too! I have an extra set that Fuji Nana has donated for this giveaway and I want one of you to have them! To enter the giveaway I want you to leave me a comment telling me what your favorite kitchen tool or gadget is and why. For a second entry in the giveaway, just leave a second (separate) comment letting me know if you are a Follower or a Subscriber. I will keep the comments open until Sunday, April 5th, 10 pm PST, and announce the winner (using a random number generator) on Monday.

** The contest is now closed.**

I love my toaster oven. It’s safer for me (I have Celiac Disease) because I can clean it frequently. Plus my hubby makes this AMAZING broiled salmon with honey and mayple syrup in there at least every-other week. :o)

Oooh I have so many favorite tools. Probably my husband’s santuko knife (he lets me use it!), my kitchen aid mixer, and my flexible cutting boards.

hahaha, I would be in the follower category :) And my favorite gadget is my cookie dough scoop. Not sure if it’s because it makes cute cookies or if it’s because I love to eat cookies. Especially your recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. Wasn’t that some subtle sucking up ;)

I’d have to say my kitchen scale. It’s been a big help in both following Weight Watchers and learning how to bake yeast breads. (Now that’s a study in opposites!)

I love my Pyrex glass measuring cups – they take all the abuse I hand out, they can go in the oven or the microwave, I drop them in the sink constantly and they love it. Yay!

I love those spoons! My favorite kitchen item is a rubber, slotted, spatula kind of thing. It isn’t flat for flipping and it isn’t shaped like a spoon. Hard to describe but so handy.

Everyone thought i was crazy for registering for a cookie scoop – but i totally love it! It makes cookie-making go so much faster, and i also use it for tons of other things, such as making appetizers and meatballs.

My favorite kitchen gadget is my boyfriend. He whips up the BEST meals and treats. I am so spoiled. Now that my “gadget” has been broken for a month, I am so sad, but he is getting better. :)

I would say my metal tongs are my fav kitchen gadget. Not too exciting I know, but I use these suckers for everything and could imagine without them, how blistered my hands would be from splatters.

Reply

Serena April 2, 2009 at 3:49 pm

I don’t know how I lived before I discovered tongs. I use them ALL the time. I actually have three pair–my usual ones, just a nice pair; a bamboo one; and a chintzy metal one. I use them all!

My favorite tool is a handheld beater that I inherited from my grandmom. I love how well it works and the fact that it doesn’t even require electricity.

For me to admit to only 2 favorites amongst the bazillion kitchen gadgets I've bought over the years is.. well, embarrassing! But here goes.

#1 – My digital meat thermometer. The kind you poke the temp cable end into the meat, set the alarm temp you want for your meat & go watch TV until the alarm rings. BRILLIANT!!

#2 – My Food Saver vacuum sealer. No more freezer burn or food that tastes like the freezer itself! DOUBLE YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those little measuring spoons sound brilliant as well! What a clever idea.
