Did you do YOUR duty?

in Family, News

Today is election day in the US and I have already exercised my right to vote. Just as I fulfilled this important duty as a citizen of the United States, I also fulfilled another very important duty yesterday–that of celebrating National Doughnut Day. I convinced a friend to do her civic duty and we took the kids to a local donut shop, Heavenly Donuts, that just opened.

Squirrel, along with her friends T-Rex and Guy-Smiley, learned how good a doughnut can taste in the morning.
I feasted on my personal favorite, an apple fritter.
There’s just something about the sweet glaze and slightly crunchy outside combined with the moist cinnamony dough and apple chunks on the inside that puts me into doughnut nirvana. Yum.
I must admit that those doughnuts don’t seem to be doing much for my middle though . . . .
How was your Doughnut Day?

Hmmm…I think you look more like a jelly-filled donut than an apple fritter.

I can’t BELIEVE I missed national donut day! That apple fritter looked to die for. I guess I’ll have to make up by eatting two today.

I voted, but I didn’t know about it being Donut Day, too! Maybe I’ll head over to Dunkin Doughnuts today to make up for it. ;0)

BTW, when are you due??

Thanks for the doughnut post. I am still trying to master the art of making them at home. You should see my pumpkin doughnut post.

Love your donut belly. Sadly, my belly is purely a Mr Donuts belly!

The two Americans I work with organised their postal votes. The Japanese were so excited. One of the guys (American), had one friend (Japanese) insist that he touched the pen while the American ticked the box, and another took a photo.
