Mother’s Cookies Circus Animal Cookies are back!!!

in Uncategorized

I wasn’t planning on blogging today, but then a package appeared on my doorstep that changed my mind. The whole Fuji family has been so excited about this package, that I decided I’d have to share my excitement with you.
Mother’s Cookies, a company based in Oakland, CA, that had been in business for 92 years abruptly closed its doors in October of last year. For those of us who grew up on the West Coast, this was a sad thing. I have never been a big fan of store bought cookies, but I have always loved the little white and pink frosted Circus Animal cookies that were made by Mother’s Cookies and was sad to see them go. Then, in early December, Kellogg announced that it would acquire trademarks and recipes for several of Mother’s Cookies, including the Circus Animal cookies.

I belong to the Tastemaker Program, through Foodbuzz.com, where samples of products are sent by various companies to members of the Tastemaker’s team to try at home in their kitchen. The package that arrived on my doorstep yesterday contained a 14 oz. bag of Circus Animal cookies!
We immediately broke open the bag and dug in. The cookies are every bit as good as I remember them being.
Squirrel LOVES them and was actually caught red-handed sitting on the kitchen table this afternoon with her hand in the cookie bag pulling out a fistful of cookies.
The bag is not going to last long. Good thing they’ll be back on shelves this month!

COMING TOMORROW: Cupcake Week begins!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think I’ve ever had those. Not that surprising since I’ve always lived in the northeast. Heh.I wish I had gotten that offer from Foodbuzz, I would have loved to try some.

A Tastsemaker program?? Now that sounds good! The cookies look yummy, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what Cupcake Week brings! While cooking my last batch of cupcakes, I caused not one, but two (sadly I’m not kidding either) fires… and haven’t been back in the kitchen since. Hopefully Cupcake Week will encourage me…

Oh RonChops and I LOVE these cookies. Esp the iced oatmeal. I cannot wait to find them in my local store.

Oh I should be working and not writing comments. Cupcake week is knocking at my door. I am such a bad Lolly.

I received mine yesterday. I dug in immediately. Didn’t care that I was full from lunch as I had to have some of these nostalgic cookies.

Oh wow that is GREAT news! We used to live outside of San Francisco in Walnut Creek and we LOVED those cookies. We’ve had knock offs and they are just not the same. Those cookies have a cult following! I wonder why they closed down:(

These are a favorite of mine as well. This was something that I only got when I was at my grandma’s house, as mom didn’t buy them. So they were a special treat for me as a kid! Glad to hear they won’t be leaving us!

You are SO lucky! I had these cookies for snack time in kindergarten with a little carton of milk…this is definitely a comfort food for me.

You have received the MEME award on my blog. Thank you for such great posting!

Yea! I’m so excited about this! I was so sad when I heard they were going away and by the time I got to the store, ALL of the remaining bags were gone :( This is great! Thanks for the heads up :)

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy! I was so depressed when Mother’s closed that I went right out to William’s Sonoma to buy their circus animals cookie cutters to try to make my own. These cookies have been a huge favorite in our family since I was a wee one myself, and I am incredibly glad that they’re coming back, because there’s just no substitution for the real thing!

I’m from Washington State and grew up eating Mother’s cookies. Good to know I’ll be able to get them in Ohio now!!
