My hatsuhinode (the first sunrise) of 2012, this morning in Draper, Utah. It was very cold (about 20 degrees Fahrenheit), but beautiful. My in-laws live up against the foothills, so we had to be patient for the sun to make it’s appearance. 2012 is going to be a wonderful year!

what beautiful sunrise and your photos are amazing!! happy new year!!
Happy New Year Rachel! The air looks so crisp and clear up there!
My resolution? To get the girls together for a playdate! You with me?
I found your blog through a search for split pea soup on pinterest:). I love all of your recipes for Japanese food. I lived in Japan for four years and never had a clue as how to prepare the food there. As a result we ate as American-like as possible. I wish I had had your fab. posts back then!:) My oldest was also born in Tokyo on the last day of November in 2006 and we moved back to the States in 2008. Just some coincidences that made me smile. I’ll be checking back as my hubby loves Japanese food and I may just have to attempt cooking some for him!
Love the photos and Happy New Year Rachael!
