Allowing a pregnant foodie access to the Internet is maybe a bad idea. Seriously. This weekend I read this post by Adam Roberts on his blog, The Amateur Gourmet, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my head ever since (a reoccurring problem when I’m pregnant). Adam made Smitten Kitchen’s recipe for Crispy Salted Oatmeal White Chocolate Cookies and then extended the assignment to his readers to make themselves a batch of cookies too. Sigh. I was one of those students growing up that always turned in their homework and always turned it in on time. Well, I was bound and determined to not let Mr. Adam Roberts trick me into feeling like this was a real homework assignment that I was going to have to feel guilty about. Ha! So there Mr. Adam Roberts! Yeah right.
When I woke up this morning at 5:30 a.m. and could not go back to sleep, my thoughts soon turned to those unbaked cookies and the guilt started to creep in. So what did I do? Yep. I got up and did my homework assignment. Now I’ve got 22 cookies (yeah, it makes 24, I already ate 2) sitting on my kitchen counter calling me name. So now I’m passing the guilt on to YOU. I’ll be leaving in just a little bit to go and hang out with the lovely Sandra Lee. While I’m gone, you have the assignment (yes, an official homework assignment–can’t get out of that one, now can you?) to make yourself a batch of these cookies (that’s 24 cookies–no partial batches allowed!). That way I won’t have been the only person consuming the extra calories today.
You can find the recipe here. I expect a full report on my desk by the end of tomorrow. Okay, okay, I’ll give you until the end of this week. Class dismissed.
