A is for…

in Uncategorized

I have decided to participate in the 2008 ABC-Along on Ravelry. This entails posting a photo every two weeks to correspond with a letter of the alphabet. The photos should be a reflection of me and things that are meaninful to me. What a fun way to spend the year! Here is the schedule for the upcoming year:

I’ve spent the past couple of days thinking about what might represent the letter A. I was starting to get worried, as January 19th was quickly approaching. Then today I seemed to be bombarded by As!

I was feeding Squirrel a snack this afternoon and it occurred to me that I could use the letter A to give you a word to add to your Japanese vocabulary: “aka-chan”, which means “baby”!

Earlier this evening I was walking to the train station to go to work, and it was cold. I was wearing the shawl that my spoilee from SP11, Ms. Krafty1, sent me and appreciating how it was helping to keep me warm. So in the spirit of adding new words to your ever expanding vocabulary, A is also for “amimono” and “amitié”. The word “amimono” means “knitting” in Japanese, and “amitié” means “friendship” in French. If it wasn’t for knitting and friendship, I would have been a little bit colder on my way to and from work tonight! When I got home from work and checked the mail, I saw that I had received a little more amitié. So A is also for “air mail”! Polly (my spoiler from SP11) sent me the Winter issue of Vogue Knitting, by…air mail! What a wonderful way to end the day.

Hmmm…
A could also be for “awfully aromatic” diapers…

What a cool idea. I think you did a spectacular job with the letter A. I’ll enjoy seeing how you work your way through the alphabet.
