Where in the world is Fuji Mama?

in Uncategorized

My parents arrived here in Tokyo on Wednesday evening, and we did what any self-respecting hosts would do and fed them a proper meal. We took them to one of my most favorite restaurants in the whole world, Kaikaya’s. If you ever get to go to this little gem of a restaurant, EVERYTHING is good, but anything suggested by the owner/chef Tange-san is guaranteed to be a winner. Some of my all-time favorites include tuna ribs (I get them every time) and their sashimi platter.

However, Mr. Fuji and I are no longer in Tokyo. In fact, we are no longer even in Japan! Thursday we hopped on a plane and flew to . . . . Rather than telling you where I flew to, let’s play a little game. I’m going to give you a few details of the places I have been since Thursday, and you can guess the locations. However, if you already know, NO HELPING!

Location #1

Yesterday for lunch we enjoyed a wonderful meal of the local specialty: chicken rice.

We explored Chinatown, Little India, and Arab Street.

For dinner we stuffed ourselves silly on saffron rice, murg tikka masala, mutton vindaloo, and garlic naan.
One interesting piece of trivia, is that in this location a cell phone is called a handphone.
Where was I?

Location #2

Then this morning we hopped on another plane for a short flight, then took an hour long bus ride to arrive in another location. Here we visited a famous building, then went to an Islamic arts museum, that supposedly has one of the best collections of Islamic art in the world, that was fascinating.

Tonight we visited a night market.

Where am I?

Oh I was going to say Singapore! I’m so happy I was right. I was only there a year ago for 2 days and suffering terrible jetlag. Have a lovely trip!

I got it too! Singapore and KL. Have a great time!

I guessed Singapore straight away with the Chicken Rice (yum!) and the other hints just confirmed it. the hotel I stayed in at KL was right near the towers.

Ohh.. I feel so clever ;)
