Spring has sprung in the avocado groves, and we have moved from Fuerte avocados into Hass avocados. The trees have started sprouting new growth and the avocado buds are starting to blossom.
I never knew that avocados could get me into such a springtime frenzy, but they have! My avocado sister, Mimi Avocado, and I have been having some fabulous avocado adventures as of late. Last week the Fujilings and I met up with her for brunch at a fabulously fun cafe in Lake Elsinore (midway between our homes) called Annie’s Cafe. Because we were first time visitors, we had the special privilege of wearing crazy hats. Removing the hats would result in us having to dance for the rest of the restaurant, so we were highly motivated to revel in our silliness.
After filling up on waffles, “pandacakes,” bacon, and omelettes, we drove back to Mimi’s house to enjoy the spring sunshine in the avocado groves. The girls loved traipsing through the groves and fields and picking wild flowers.
Mimi also played the Easter bunny and slipped outside to hide some plastic eggs and freshly picked avocados in the grass so that we could have an Easter egg hunt. The girls thought it was great fun to hunt for the “avocado eggs” that were so well camouflaged in the green grass.
We think “avocado eggs” make for a beautiful Easter basket—don’t you?
Yesterday I returned to Mimi’s house, but this time to “work.” We powered up for the day by playing with our food.
I then spent the morning shooting product photos for their California Avocado gift box and monthly subscription business (California Avocados Direct—best gift idea ever!).
I returned home with a big box of avocados that the Fujilings and I decided to put into bags and deliver to friends. We like playing the Easter bunny!
Has spring sprung at your house?
You’ll love Mimi’s posts about our adventures!

What a fun adventure! And I love the idea of using avocados instead of eggs in a basket.
One of my favorite ways to eat an avocado is on a grilled piece of bread topped with pistachios! Learned it from one of the DC restaurants.
It’s so much fun to see your photos and remember how much fun we had! Happy Spring to all of you! Looking forward to more adventures! xoxo
I’d love the avocado bunny to visit my house!!

That label with the avocado bunny on it is adorable. Who designed it?
