Did ya miss me?

in Uncategorized

Ok, so I almost had to tie myself down to prevent myself from trying to type out a post last night at 11:00 pm. I had to keep telling myself, “It’s alright. Your blog will still be there tomorrow. You deserve a break. You deserve to go to bed right now. Your blog is sick of you. It doesn’t want to hear from you right now. GO TO BED!!!” Finally I was able to force myself to walk away from the computer. It’s incredible what one month of doing something every day will do! It tells me that if I need to teach myself to become compulsive about doing something, all I have to do is will myself to do that thing every day for a month.

Today I bring you a cell phone journey. It was a cold and rainy day, and these pictures were taken with my cell phone, so please excuse the poor picture quality. These were taken in the car on my way to and from a meeting. Don’t worry, the only time I took a picture was when I was stopped waiting for a red light to turn green.

I would like to introduce the car you will be riding in, our wonderful Nissan La Festa. We call it “The Green Machine”, because it is such a fun color of green (although I don’t have proof of that lovely green in this post).

Here we are, waiting at a light in Ebisu, an area not too far away from my house. Mr. Scooter-man in front of me didn’t use to be in front of me. He used to be way back behind me, but he squeezed past me and cut in line.

Here, unfortunately, we hit a little bit of traffic. Get used to it–this is a very common occurrence in Tokyo. I hope you brought along something to do, we could be here awhile . . . .

Had you realized that we were driving on the left hand side of the road? Waive to the people on the other side of the road!

It’s a little dreary out there today.

Aren’t you glad that you are all warm and dry inside the car and that you are not that woman riding her bike in the rain?

We’ve been to my meeting, and now we’re now on the way home. Oh look! There’s a Denny’s! Too bad the menu is nothing like the menu in the US, I was craving some bacon and eggs . . . .

I’m intrigued to know what kind of things are served at Whisky, Mama & Yuki.

Squirrel would like you to look at something. If you figure out what it is, let me know!

Oh look, we’re in Ebisu again! We’re almost home . . . .

Look at that beautiful ginko tree. It’s leaves have finally changed color.

There’s the girl’s school. We’re just around the corner from home!

You could have ridden the bus today, but you chose to ride with me instead. Thanks!

Yes! I did miss you! Nice to have you back. Today’s post makes me travel-sick for Japan.

What a great post. I audibly sighed at the sight of the Denny’s, it sucks that they aren’t like the US version. And I’ve been in the UK for so long now that it didn’t even occur to me that you were driving on the “wrong” side of the road. :)

Your contest books have been mailed, by the way.

I wondered too what was going on Whisky, Mama & Yuki– why didnt you walk in there with camera in hand and do some investigating. YOu could have said that you were Mama looking for Whisky and Yuki.
