Finally Some Internet Access . . . and Some Work On An UFO

in Uncategorized

So, I am in the States–yeah! I am now finally getting some internet access and jumping at the chance to update my blog. It is great to be back in the US. I can’t believe how spacious everything seems and how cheap everything is! Right now we are in Memphis, then we will head on to Salt Lake City, Utah, and finally to Redlands, California (where I grew up). Since the little babe was born in Japan, most of the grandparents have not met her yet, so we are visiting all of them so that they can get acquainted! One of the upsides of this is that I get to hit an armful of my favorite craft stores.

I mentioned in my SP10 questionnaire that my oldest UFO is 6 months old. Well, I hauled that sucker out this week and did some serious work on it. It is from the book One Skein, by Leigh Radford. I don’t have the book in front of me, but it is the felted striped purse towards the back of the book. I am knitting it for my Mom–sorry it’s not done yet Mom–who requested it back in June! I actually finished all of the knitting and sewing in of ends. Now all that is left is felting and then sewing on the handles. My mom wasn’t fond of the knitted handles in the book, so I bought leather ones that I will sew on after felting. I will post pictures as soon as it is done. I actually finished the knitting right before we left on our trip, but was so determined to finish that I brought it with me so I can felt it at my mother-in-law’s house and then give it to my mom when we get to California.

Hi Traveller! I’m your Secret Pal! Are you excited?
This is just a little note to say that I am reading your blog and can’t wait to hear how your trip home is going. You also need to let me know when you’ll be back in Japan so I can start spoiling you!
Take care and happy travels. Your SP xxx
