Mr. Fuji, Grill Master & Husband/Father Extraordinaire

in Family

Mr Fuji

I still remember the first time I saw Mr. Fuji.  I was at a party and caught a glimpse of him from across the room.  Our eyes met and he smiled at me. I think I fell in love right there and then.  If you met my Mr. Fuji, you’d quickly realize that his personality is summed up in his wonderful smile.  He is caring, compassionate, funny, warm, generous, kind, patient, and loving.  When he smiles, I see all of those things.  Since the moment of that first smile, I have gotten to know and love this amazing man more and more.  Somehow I convinced him that he wanted to have me around too, and we got married.  In the years since our wedding, we’ve moved to Japan, then to Tennessee, then back to Japan, and then finally to California.  He cheered me on through law school, never questioning my strange study hours.  He cheered me on through two pregnancies, offering to rub my back and bring me hot fudge sundaes, Mexican food, and Indian food when I got one of my crazy cravings.  He held my hand in the operating room in Japan without flinching as Squirrel was born via emergency c-section, and then again with Bug when she was born via c-section.  He changed diapers, gave baths, read bedtime stories, and played soccer in the backyard with our girls.  He has listened to my crazy ideas and supported me when I tried to carry them out.  He has been my chief taste-tester, subjecting himself to my successes and failures in the kitchen.  He takes turns doing the cooking to give me a break, and he is our “Grill Master.”  I realize more and more how lucky I was to have found him.  Today marks 8 years of marriage.  What a wonderful adventure those 8 years have been!  I love you Mr. Fuji.  Here’s to many more wonderful years.

Such a cute picture of one of the nicest , most dedicated, most helpful guys around. We’re so glad you two chose to get married–otherwise, we would have had to drug you both and done it anyway! Happy anniversary!

Fuji Nana made some crockpot pork ribs last night and I thought it was fitting as I looked at Mr. Fuji’s Corky’s apron. The two of you introduced us to Memphis BBQ, then Thai food (in Memphis), then Japanese food (in Japan) and to Indian food. The two of you can not only cook up a mean batch of food, but you do a tremendous job on kidlets as well. Hope you had a great anniversary dinner last night.

Happy A to you both. Wonderful post, and I second the idea of having one of his grilling recipes – cool idea. I adore your spirit, and now it seems it comes in a pair! Your Gyoza wrappers continue to be a weekly event at my house. Love to you both!
