Taking time to stop and smell the flowers . . . .

in Japan

I Failed to realize, with the Frenetic pace of March, that my deadline for “F” had Flown past me! Luckily, I got a gentle nudge yesterday from Fuji-san who decided to make an appearance. As I was admiring my patron mountain yesterday morning it reminded me that I needed to do an “F” post.

F” is a hard letter for me–not because I’m unable to think of anything that begins with “F“, but because I can think of too many things that I love that begin with the letter “F“! Some of my most Favorite things begin with “F“: Food, France, Friends, Family, Fuji . . . . What to choose? As I struggled with this difficult decision, Squirrel went ahead and made it for me: Flowers. There are some planters of flowers in the courtyard outside our building that Squirrel loves. We spend a good twenty minutes everyday inspecting those flowers (I think she has to personally greet each one), which is exactly what she was doing this morning when I decided that F is for Flowers.

One wonderful thing about Tokyo is that there is some kind of flower blooming year round. This time of year is especially wonderful, as it is currently cherry blossom season. Cherry blossom season = heaven on earth!

Squirrel and I walked through the campus of Sacred Heart University, which is right around the corner from us, to look at the cherry blossoms there.

The only downside to this beautiful sight is coming away with the wheels of the stroller caked in fallen blossoms!

I’ve F-allen behind as well. This weekend will be an F-G catch-up.

Those stroller wheels remind me of the Rose Parade in Pasadena–everything covered with petals!

Cute little Squirrel…
