I’ve recently been in contact with a Japan tour company based in Los Angeles, called PacSet Tours. This year they have a food themed tour scheduled for August (August 19 — 28, 2013) that is going to be amazing. If you have ever wanted to experience Japan, this would be a great tour to try! Unfortunately my kids start school at the very beginning of August, otherwise we’d be going. The tour includes everything from experiencing Japanese bakeries, to an amusement park in Tokyo where you can sample things like squid icecream. You get to visit Tsukiji Fish Market, one of my favorite places, where fish buyers come from all over Japan to bid on the catch of the day. You’ll also get some hands-on experience by doing things like learning to make soba noodles. The tour is going to be amazing, I only wish I could go! But PacSet Tours has a little treat for LFM readers:
PacSet Tours is proud to announce a special $100 discount for La Fuji Mama readers on their forthcoming “Local Eats” Japan Tour.
Designed to introduce casual and seasoned travelers to the kind of Japanese cuisine the locals eat, the tour escorts guests to restaurants, festivals, and traditional inns on a tour of Japan’s famed “Tokaido” road. Tour guests will sample over twelve varieties of “local” cuisines, including savory Okonomiyaki, fresh Sushi, fried kushiage skewers, and much, much more. The tour will also give guests the chance to make their own soba, tour a Japanese beer factory, and see how soy sauce is made.
The tour is $3,550 for La Fuji Mama readers and includes round trip airfare from Los Angeles, all accommodations in Japan, meals, transportation, the full-time services of an experienced tour guide, and more. For more information, or if you have any questions, please visit http://pacsettours.com/portfolios/local-eats/ or e-mail [email protected]. Please mention “La Fuji Mama” when signing up for the tour to receive the discount.

Oh my! I would love to join in the food tours but already love in Japan. Do you think they would allow people to attend tours only?
This is very interesting! Considering how much we paid for the tickets to Japan for this summer, I think this is such a great deal, not to mention stopping in Tokyo, Kamakura, Nagoya, Osaka, Kobe, and Kyoto and all transportation and accommodation included. I have some friends who might be interested. Thanks for the info!
@Nami — I know, isn’t it a phenomenal deal? The itinerary looks beyond fun too!
Thank you again Rachael for the wonderful post! <3
Courtney – We do offer "Land Only" tours, which is the tour without the flight. Feel free to email us or check out the tour page for more information!
