As a stay-at-home mom, I’m usually the one baking cakes, cookies, etc. for special occasions, and it’s not unheard of that a mom bakes her own birthday cake. That’s just the way it is sometimes, and personally, I’m okay with that! If baking my own chocolate cake means that it will turn out exactly how I love it, and I get to spend time in the kitchen, I have nothing to complain about. It is, however, nice to get other members of the family involved in the baking, so that mom can have a break and be treated herself. With Mother’s Day coming up, I’ve got a suggestion for you—meet my Chunky Monkey Scones! Moist scones studded with chocolate chips and chunks of banana, perfect for dunking in a glass of cold milk.
They are the perfect treat to teach your kiddos (or sweet loving husband) how to make because they’re easy and so delicious that your kids will want to make every day a special day just to have an excuse to make them again! You can find my recipe for Chunky Monkey Scones over on Savvy Sassy Moms. For more delicious quick bread ideas, check out this fabulous list of the 25 Best Quick Bread Recipes from Cooking Light!

These scones sound like heaven! Love them!
I love chunky monkey ice cream but this sounds so much better because I could have it in the morning with coffee!
These look yummy. I too bake my own birthday cake and I look forward to it all year. : )
They are the best looking scones I’ve ever seen!
“Happy Cooking”
Oh these trump the ice cream version, any day!
Great seeing you yesterday :)

Great site!!
@Karriann — Aaaaw, you are so sweet!
@wifemothereventplanner — LOL, thank you!
You’ve said it all! I’ve made almost all of my birthday cakes, however, as I share my birthday with my son I usually make what he wants. Scones though are not on his list of favorite things so I think I would get to make these all for myself!
A pleasure to meet you last weekend as well! I told my daughter how you commented that it’s good to let the kids stay home from school every once in a while. She tried really hard to persuade me to let her stay home today too… “Remember that lady you met said it was a good thing, Mom!!” No such luck today though!!
I love scones!! and I loved meeting you at camp last weekend :) Thanks for sharing your blog knowledge and experience. To next year!!
Take care,
Scones are the one I won’t get it whatever I do. I think recipe will change that.Sure going to try this one.
